Holiday Home Insurance Cornwall
Holiday home insurance is different from your permanent home insurance: the key difference is that your holiday property is likely to be unoccupied for long periods of time, which increases the risk of theft or damage. In addition, if you let or lend your second home out, this could limit your insurance options.
Taking out home insurance on a second property is more than simply taking a second policy. Homes may not be covered by a regular home insurance policy if they are unoccupied for longer than 30 consecutive days. If your holiday home is mortgaged, you’re likely to need buildings insurance to satisfy your mortgage lender.
If you leave furniture, televisions or other personal items there, you may need contents insurance in order to replace all the items if necessary, including carpets and curtains. Your holiday home insurance should cover you for such things as storm damage, break-ins and accidental damage.
If you rent out your holiday home, you may need holiday let insurance – a specialist form of cover.
